The SOAR™ team is thrilled to be partnering with Minnesota Wind Chill, the Land of 10,000 Lakes’ very own professional ultimate frisbee team for the 2020 season. As a Minnesota-based CBD company that is driven by community, we are proud of our roots and the opportunity to partner with individuals, teams and businesses locally and nationwide to bring the uplifting benefits of CBD to active bodies and minds.
The 2020 season is currently on hold, but Wind Chill hopes to play part or all of its regular 12-game season. Although this season already looks quite different than SOAR™ or the team had envisioned at the start of the year, we are eager to work with and support Wind Chill and the greater ultimate frisbee community as we adjust to life amidst a global pandemic. We look forward to getting creative in our goal of bringing experiences to life that inspire and uplift our communities.
More on Wind Chill and the AUDL
Wind Chill is one of 21 franchises across the United States and Canada that make up the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL), founded in 2012. The AUDL strives to maintain ultimate’s rich history; its mission is to “increase the visibility of one of North America’s fastest growing sports by creating fun, family-friendly events that showcase the sport being played at its highest level.”
Wind Chill is based out of Saint Paul, Minnesota; the team’s home turf is Sea Foam Stadium located on the campus of Concordia University. They are the first, and at this time only, team in the AUDL that represents an entire state versus a specific city. While the majority of the team’s talent is based locally, there are several players on the roster of more than 30 who commute for practices and games from other states and Canada.
The team is heading into its eighth season in the AUDL, coming off a 6-6 regular season record in 2019. For the first time in five years, Wind Chill came up just short of the playoffs and missed the opportunity to compete in postseason play.
Meet our Ambassadors
As part of our sponsorship, we have the honor of adding three new ambassadors to our roster: Isaac Leondard, Josh Klane and Rocco Linehan.
Isaac is a receiver for Wind Chill. His favorite ultimate-related accomplishment is his Top 10 Highlight Play on the Wind Chill a few seasons back; he hopes to re-enter the top ten this coming season. He's working towards trying out for the US National Team, and he puts in work every day whether it's mentally or physically.
Rocco is both a handler and receiver (hybrid) for Wind Chill. He started playing ultimate in high school, and his team won the Vermont (VT) State Championship in 2011. Rocco attended the University of New Hampshire where he led the team as a captain his sophomore, junior and senior years. While in college, he also played for Boston Dig, the state’s club team, and attended four years of Nationals.
Josh is a handler for Wind Chill and is the team’s all-time assist leader. Josh has finished in the top 5 in the league in assists each of the past three regular seasons, having racked up an astounding 182 assists in that time frame. He also holds the franchise record for most career completions, as he’s thrown 500-plus each of the past three seasons.
Welcome to the team! We’re honored to have you.
As a team built by wellness and fitness professionals, we’re excited to be a part of the Wind Chill and ultimate frisbee community; we have all experienced the uplifting benefits of CBD ourselves and we are passionate about sharing our experiences and knowledge. We look forward to what we will create together, this year and beyond.
Stay active and mindful,
