Rocco Linehan is both a handler and receiver (hybrid) for Wind Chill. He started playing ultimate in high school, and his team won the Vermont (VT) State Championship in 2011. A few years later, he had the honor being chosen as captain for the first VT youth team, that later went on to compete at the Youth Club Championships. The following summer, he began his club career; he played a season with a mixed team called Enough Monkeys.
Next up, Rocco attended the University of New Hampshire where he led the team as a captain his sophomore, junior and senior years. While in college, he also played for Boston Dig, the state’s club team, and attended four years of Nationals.
Before moving to Minnesota and joining Wind Chill in September 2019, he tried out for and competed with Team USA on the u24 mixed team; they took home the gold medal at the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) World Championships.
How do you move your body?
Individual weight-lifting workouts have never been my strong suit. Instead, I like to cross-train for ultimate by playing basketball and soccer (two sports with similar techniques involved). When I feel like doing strength exercises, I like to rock climb or swim if possible.
What are your values?
I value honesty, light heartedness and hard work.
What is a quote you live by?
“If you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there." This quote reminds me that there is no one true way to live life. Do what you love doing and be prepared for anything that crosses your path.
